perry LUTHERAN cemetery association

The Perry Cemetery Association is comprised of a  six-member board that has oversight for all matters pertaining to the Perry Lutheran Church Cemetery, which dates back to the church’s founding. The Association was organized in 1914 and given full authority for upkeep of the church cemetery.  At that time, the cemetery was re-platted, several monuments were moved, straightened, given new foundations, and put in parallel lines. There are over 1,600 burials representing several generations of Perry members, including many of the original Norwegian pioneers who founded Perry Lutheran Church.  The printed directory at the top of the cemetery provides a helpful reference when looking for graves at Perry Lutheran Cemetery.

The cemetery association oversees all groundskeeping and maintenance, burials, and lot purchases.  They also have flags placed on all Veterans’ graves each Memorial Day.

An extensive restoration project was started in 2025 with over 180 stones repaired by the professionals at Stone Guardian, LLC.  A fundraising campaign continues for the restoration of additional stones, many of which are over a century year old and represent individuals who no longer have any living descendants.  If you are interested in donating to the restoration, checks can be sent to the attention of Gary Langfoss, Treasurer; Perry Lutheran Cemetery Association, 1057 State Rd 78, Mount Horeb, WI  53572.

Current board members are Ron Hittesdorf, Chairman; Gary Langfoss, Treasurer; Pauline Hittesdorf, Secretary; David Jeglum, Willis Volden and Greg Burreson.
